Take them sailing! The ocean is a magnificent classroom, and with the help of our crew of professional sailors, the captain will turn your group into young seafarers. We have been catering to camps, schools, and youth clubs for many years, and over 70% of past educational and school charters have returned to sail again.
- Give kids a terrific opportunity to build self-esteem through sail training.
- Commemorate the graduation of a school class.
- Educate kids through camp and scout groups.
We have developed various successful programs for kids, depending on group preferences. Sail training is often (but not necessarily) structured with the kids divided into three, 4-hour watches with every watch having responsibilities: galley, deck and navigation.
Deck Learn to sail the vessel. Tacking, trimming sail, anchoring, and keep everything ship-shape on the foredeck. Our vessels are powered by wind and the spirit of the sailors on board. Ropework and general seamanship are also part of this training.
Navigation Learn to take the ship from morning to safe anchorage. The captain gives instruction on sail theory, navigation, use of traditional and modern navigational equipment. Everyone gets a turn at the wheel.
Galley There is always much to do aboard a vessel and preparing meals is a large part of our day. The kids help in all aspects of the galley: prep, set up and clean up.
